This is a personal project I have worked on in my freetime since last summer (2001). I was obviously inspired by the greek island of Santorini... Everything except the trees and sky - which are painted and partly photographic - was modeled in 3dsmax. The scene is lit only by a sun, and rendered with Vray. I painted overall in photoshop. Thanks to Jessica Larive for the character (and cat!) designs. Here, I hope you like it!

This is a personal project I started in february and completed this week (june). I worked approximatelly 10 hours on this illustration. I was inspired by a picture I found on the web of an old man with his smoking pipe. My goal was to acheive an illustration of a person using only photoshop. I painted it all, after tracing the outline. I started in black and white, then at the end I colored it using a color layer. I indeed thought about Gandalf when I added the birds in the smoke...
I'm quite happy about the result.
Thanks to Hugo Deschamps for tips, brushes and inspiration :-)

This is a personal project I achieved while working at Ubisoft.
It comes from a sketch I did some years ago, but never had time to work on before...

I did everything (almost) from concept to painting - I must thank Dominic Grandmont and Samuel Jacques for the Shisha and table model :o)

I used maya mainly for modeling, but also XSI, since it was also part of a software learning process, and rendered everything in 3dsmax with Vray. There was a lot of painting in the end - my goal was to get an illustrative look. I was inspired by many Orientalist's paintings, for final mood as mush as for details and objects here and there...

I hope you will enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed doing it!

Cheers :o)

I did the modeling in Maya mainly, and since I wanted to render with vray, and had no more access to vray for maya, well, I ended up importing everything in max :o)

It was a very good practice!
I modeled and textured everything.
Lights and renders were done with vray...
I used a photograph for the background image.
That's much it.
Hope it will please...

Mainly to experiment further with the Vray plugin for Maya, also to try on something with old textures, rough areas, some dirt... (I'm use to work on brand new condos renderings...)

I modeled the room and a few objects, used furniture from our in-house library, did all textures and shaders, lighting, render and comp. I used Maya, Vray and Photoshop. The background is photographic.

Not my design though, I was inspired by an IDdesign image.
I tryed to have a photorealistic look.
Hope you like it :o)
I used Maya and Vray for the 3D part, and photoshop for final composition. I did the modeling of most objects and of the room, but some objects such as vases, hand miror, faucets, etc... come from our in-house library... Besides, textures, shaders and lighting are mine.

I used a real photograph in the background.

My goal was to create something as photorealistic as possible, in a calm atmosphere, a cool feeling, while outside it is a warm summer day. I like the result, I hope you will like it!
I used maya and Vray for maya - I was testing render settings a lot for this one, I had a hard time not to get spludges in the small ceiling details. I actually had to remove some in photoshop.
I did the lighting, texturing and shading. The modeling is taken from our in-house library.
The background is photographic.
I worked on the modeling and shading along with Dany Desgagné and Stephan Brisson. Lighting by Stephan.
I also worked on the matte painting with Jessy Veilleux.
This was a learning process for me, since I usually work only on 3D stuff. The characters though are my own creation, and they were add in 2D (using photoshop) afterwards.
Special thanks to DK! Thanks for all mattepainting tips :o)
And we are published in Exposé 7!! Youpi!! We're very proud... :-)

So this was a great teamwork, the goal was to follow the concept art by Jessy in therms of color and mood, to create something dusty and not-photorealistic, more fantastic...
We had great fun :o)
